Service areas across the Magic Valley

Zircon Construction is a general contractor based in Twin Falls. We work across the Magic Valley, from Buhl and Castleford in the west to Burley and Rupert in the east, and north past Jerome to Gooding and Shoshone. On every job you get one contract, one point of contact and one invoice. We scope the work, give you a written price, and then schedule and manage the vetted local subcontractors who do each trade.

The Magic Valley isn’t one market. The rules, the water and the weather all change as you move across it. Each town has its own building department, irrigation can come from a canal company, a city pressurized system or an irrigation district, and a hilltop lot in Burley sits about 400 feet higher than downtown Twin Falls. We plan each project around those details instead of treating the whole valley the same.

Where we work

Twin Falls and nearby

Twin Falls is home base, so it’s where scheduling is easiest. Projects here range from homes in the original townsite near City Park to newer subdivisions built on former farmland at the edge of town. Many newer neighborhoods water lawns with canal water through the city’s pressurized irrigation system. See our Twin Falls service page for permit and local details.

Jerome and the north side

Across the Snake River Canyon, Jerome and the surrounding north side are dairy and farm country with a lot of open ground and a lot of wind. Irrigation water here comes from the North Side Canal Company system, not the Twin Falls Canal Company. The area is also known for its historic lava rock buildings. More on our Jerome page.

West end: Filer, Buhl, Castleford and Hagerman

West of Twin Falls along US-30, Filer is home to the Twin Falls County Fairgrounds, and Buhl calls itself the Trout Capital of the World for the hatcheries around it.

These are smaller towns with older in-town homes and plenty of acreage properties where ranch fencing and long runs of fence are common. Buhl’s building department requires permits for fences, reroofs and new windows, which is stricter than many neighbors. See our Filer and Buhl pages. We take on projects in Castleford and Hagerman too, usually scheduled alongside other west-end work.

East: Kimberly, Hansen, Murtaugh, Eden and Hazelton

Kimberly grew about 42 percent between the 2010 and 2020 censuses, and the city runs its own pressurized irrigation for residents. Hansen and Murtaugh sit farther east on the south side of the river, while Eden and Hazelton are on the north side and get water through the North Side Canal system. Read our Kimberly page for more.

Mini-Cassia: Burley, Heyburn, Rupert and Paul

Burley straddles the Snake River and two counties, Cassia and Minidoka, with Heyburn directly across the river and Rupert a few miles north. It’s roughly 40 miles east of Twin Falls on I-84, higher in elevation and colder in winter. Burley, Heyburn and Rupert each run their own building permits. Gooding, Wendell and Shoshone

North of the canyon, Gooding, Wendell and Shoshone are farm-country towns in Gooding and Lincoln counties. Lava rock construction is common in this part of the valley, including in Lincoln County around Shoshone. We serve these towns as extended-area projects.

How travel and scheduling work

We’re honest about distance. Twin Falls, Kimberly, Filer, Jerome, Buhl and Hansen are our core area, and we can usually get out for an estimate there quickly. Towns farther out, like Burley, Rupert, Gooding, Shoshone, Hagerman or Castleford, are still in our service area, but estimate visits and start dates may be scheduled around where our trade partners are already working that week.

• We’ll tell you up front if your location affects the schedule.
• Any travel cost is shown on your written estimate, so it isn’t a surprise later.
• Some trades, like roofing, need a run of dry, calm days. In outlying towns we plan those windows early so crews aren’t making extra trips.
• If a project is outside what we can manage well at that distance, we’ll say so.

Permits follow the town, not the contractor

A fence that’s fine without a permit in Twin Falls may need one in Buhl. Unincorporated land goes through the county, not a city. Every town page lists the right building department with a link, and we check the rules for your address before work starts. Rules change, so we always confirm with the city or county before we build.
